doing mercy.

It is always an honor to receive H.E. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf aboard one of our Mercy Ships and today was no exception.  Just two days before she is to host President Bush in country, Madam Johnson Sirleaf took time out to come and speak to our crew.  A gifted orator she exudes warmth and genuineness as she laid aside her notes to commend and encourage our crew from her heart.

After listening to our Program Officer, Udo Kronester, present our ten month, tactical plan, and an address by founder, Don Stephens, the President responded with a scripture, “Greater love has no man than this:  that a man lay down his life for his friends.” She spoke of those who have given of their life to make our services possible--not mortal life, but resources -- which those that fund us contribute to make our medical care for the poor a reality. She emphasized, “You didn’t have to do it, you could have used your resources for your own comfort -- and we honor you for that.”

Gary and I want to take this opportunity to add our thanks to the President’s.  Thank you, to those of you that support this work with finances, with prayer, with friendship.  We could not do what we do without you and we honor you!
